Chapter 12 Journal
The end of the novel was not the best way to end it. Even though they eventually were rescued, I was hoping for Jack and Roger to be killed for their wrongdoing. Actually, instead of having Jack die it would have been a great idea to show the reader his reaction upon being saved. The ending left me with more questions than answers. What happened to the boys afterwards? Do they live a normal life? How bad is the war? Did the birthmark kid actually die? Why was Jack one of the first boys to become a savage? Did Jack have a bad childhood? Ralph cried at the end, because he just wanted to be rescued. He didn't mean for all of this conflict to happen. I despise Jack the most, because he loses all of his morals and becomes a savage. He undervalues life, and eventually doesn't become phased when he witnesses a death. I would recommend this novel to a friend. The book offers an interesting story based off of human interactions in a area stripped of civilization.
