From Selma to Ferguson: Keep Hope Alive!

This piece is about the topic of racism. The author states that black America is dominated by white America. He explains the problem of race issues as the elephant in the room. He further explains that the historical impacts of slavery and white supremacy affects how federal and law enforcement view African Americans in current society.
Nauseam is a word I encountered in the article that confounded me.
I resolved the lack of understanding this word, because I checked the internet for the definition.
The main point that should be taken away from this article is that we should speak up for victims of any wrong-doings. We should spread awareness in order to prevent horrible hate crimes.
One point I agreed with was the fact that should make people aware of race issues. Increased awareness of this topic will lead to more exposure and the soon downfall of racial issues.
One point that I disagreed with was that historical events lead to why African Americans are depicted poorly in society. White supremacy is why the black American population is viewed like that by the police force. This is sadly true, but it explains racism as a whole.
This piece makes me appreciate the freedom I have in the world. While I'm sleeping in my bed, people of different colors are being persecuted for acts they did not commit.
